Atlas Of Weed Mapping

by Hansjoerg Kraehmer, Atlas Of Weed Mapping Book available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Atlas Of Weed Mapping books, Weeds are variously defined as plants growing where they are not wanted, plants that interfere with human activity. Weeds affect everyone in the world by reducing crop yield and quality, delaying or interfering with harvesting, interfering with animal feeding, reducing animal health, preventing water flow, as plant parasites, etc. It is estimated that those problems cause $ billions worth of crop losses annually and the global cost of controlling weeds also runs into many $ billions every year. Atlas of Weed Mapping presents an introductory overview on the occurrence of the most common weeds of the world. The book notably includes: Description of cropping practices and explanations for the global distribution of weeds Invasive plant mapping Aquatics and wetland plants with histological plant details Theoretical and practical aspects of weed mapping Aspects on the documentation of herbicide resistance Biodiversity, rare weeds and the dominance of the most common weeds Fully illustrated with more than 800 coloured figures and a number of tables, this new characterisation of anthropogenic vegetation will be interesting for readers of a great number of disciplines such as agriculture, botany, ecology, geobotany and plant community research. More than a hundred experts have contributed data to this unique compilation.

Smart Cities Atlas

by Eleonora Riva Sanseverino, Smart Cities Atlas Book available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Smart Cities Atlas books, The book discusses the concept of the smart city, and is based on a multi-service and multi-sectoral approach to urban planning, including various urban functions and the human capital of cities. The work is divided into three parts. The first is an introductory section which covers definitions, policies and tools used at European level for the development and classification of a smart city. The second presents a selection of examples of Western and Eastern communities, which experienced technologies and strategies that have made them smart. The third describes in detail the main three possible approaches (economical, technological and social) to the smart city concept which are the focus ambits of the holistic concept of smart city. The work provides a good overview of the concept of smart city, and also offers a critical analysis of the various approaches to smart cities, in order to provide tools to develop solutions that address the smart development of cities with an approach as multi-sectoral as possible. Its accessible language and several examples make the book easy to read and appealing to public administrators, students, planners and researchers.

Petrographic Atlas Characterisation Of Aggregates Regarding Potential Reactivity To Alkalis

by Isabel Fernandes, Petrographic Atlas Characterisation Of Aggregates Regarding Potential Reactivity To Alkalis Book available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Petrographic Atlas Characterisation Of Aggregates Regarding Potential Reactivity To Alkalis books, This RILEM AAR 1.2 Atlas is complementary to the petrographic method described in RILEM AAR 1.1. It is designed and intended to assist in the identification of alkali-reactive rock types in concrete aggregate by thin-section petrography. Additional issues include: • optical thin-section petrography conforming to RILEM AAR 1.1 is considered the prime assessment method for aggregate materials, being effective regarding cost and time. Unequivocal identification of minerals in very-fine grained rock types may however require use of supplementary methods. • the atlas adheres to internationally adopted schemes for rock classification and nomenclature, as recommended in AAR 1.1. Thus, rock types are classified as igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic based upon mineral content, microstructure and texture/fabric. • in addition, the atlas identifies known alkali-reactive silica types in each rock type presented. It also identifies consistent coincidence between certain lithologies and silica types; however, it refrains from attributing alkali-reactivity to a specific silica property or quality. • operator skill and experience remain essential for reliable assessment by thin-section petrography. • aggregate materials must be classified according to local criteria, based on regional experiences with ASR-damaged field structures and geology. Access to additional data may be relevant for the assessment of imported materials. • mere application of rock nomenclature does not provide any sort of warranty to the development of deleterious alkali-reaction. Such may result in either rejection of a suitable aggregate material, thus wasting a valuable resource, or acceptance of an unsuitable material leading to concrete damage, both of which are undesirable.
